PA Man Loses Cars, Motorcycles Due to Drug-Related Conviction

By: Lisa Marie Vari, the Biker Chick Lawyer

Pennsylvania resident Neil Neidig has lost at least ten vehicles due to a Pennsylvania drug conviction for selling marijuana. Neidig was convicted because of a 2011 arrest. He was stopped initially for speeding in Monroe County, but upon inspection of the car, the officer found more than 13 pounds of marijuana and $13,000 in his car.

As a result of what was found within the car, Pennsylvania's state attorney general's office decided to seize the vehicles because authorities claim he bought them with the money he made from his sale of drugs. Of the ten vehicles, at least two were motorcycles and one was a customized Corvette race car which was worth more than $100,000.

At the trial, the Northumberland County judge approved the forfeitures of all the vehicles, while a Monroe County judge permitted the seizure of the car and cash found during the initial speeding stop in June of 2011.

Neidig, who is serving time for the drug convictions, did not take this news well and decided to appeal the case to the Commonwealth Court. He attempted to argue that the vehicles seized were not purchased with drug money, but in fact from disability payments, Pennsylvania child support payments, and inheritance from his mother, but the judge did not buy it. The judge cited testimony from Neidig's daughter that her father told her "they would pay their bills with drug money" and that he had used his illicit profits to buy vehicles.
